  23. The plot twist in the last chapter is that when Benson goes looking for help, he stumbles onto a town. There he meets Jane. It’s not the robot Jane, but a real person. I think this turn of events will lend insight on how Maxfield makes their robots in the second book. My prediction is that the robot Jane was based on the real person. I am very interested in reading Feedback. It looks like a good book and if it’s anything like Variant, than I will really enjoy it. I am very curious about Maxfield and I really want to know what happens to Benson and Becky.

  24. In the last chapter Benson goes looking for help for Becky, and ends up in a small town. He is startled to find Jane. He thinks that she is the robot Jane, but she slices her arm to proof that she is real. My perdition is that everyone at the little town will be forced to go back to the school and their will be a fight It will be interesting to fined out what will happen between Benson and Becky.

  25. In the last chapter, Benson goes to the town that all the smoke comes from. He went into a barn to find help so Becky wouldn't bleed to death. In the barn he finds Jane. He started to back away from her and she assured him it's okay. She cut the flesh away from the bone to show him she was real. I think this will tie into the next book by Jane helping him find his way back into civilization. I am very interested in reading the next book, so I can find out what happens to Becky and Benson.

The plot twist in the last chapter was that Benson went looking for help and found a small town. He went into a barn looking for something to help Becky. Benson was startled by Jane she looked different but at this point he was not sure what she was an android or real? Jane slit her arm so Benson could see bone to know she was real. Now he had to decide what to do Becky needed help but was this town another trap for the school. I'm not sure what will happen in the town maybe its another experiment with less amenities than the school had. I would like to read the next book just to find out what happens to Becky does she make it and do they escape or fall into another trap.

In the last chapter the plot twist was Benson was looking for help and ends up going to the town smoke comes from. When he arrives to the small town of smoke he goes into a Barn. The Barn was the place he looked for something to help out Becky. When Jane scared him he wondered if she was an adroid or real. When he wounded Jane he could tell she was an android. After that he had to decide what was best for Becky since she needed help and the fear of thetown being trap. Aside from whether or not the small smoky town was a trap this may or may not tie into the upcoming sequel to this book. We will find out more if we continue reading the exciting series. Great book!

In the last chapter of the book, Variant, Benson was trying to find help when he stumbles upon a small town. He found a barn in the small town to find something to help Becky. But he sees Jane. He is startled by her and she tries to convince him that she not an android. She cuts open her arm to show him that she is human. I feel that this left insight for the next book. Because it will raise questions about the people who run Maxfield Academy and how they are controlling and watching the students. Which then will make the students like Benson more angry to try to get away and forget everything. I thought that the book was quite interesting but not enough to read the second book in my personal time.

The turning point at the last chapter is when Benson goes looking for help for Becky. He ends up finding himself in a small town. He went into a barn and finds Jane. She wasn't the robot she was a human. What I think that the robots were made from real people. How I think that it ties into the next book is that the humans are socialized and the human version of the robots will help bring the humans back to the real world for a better life.

  30. The final chapter allowed for a massive cliffhanger by bringing back characters, and consequently old relationships, that the reader thought were taken out of play. In the final chapter, Benson is fleeing from androids and the school and runs into a girl milking cows. She steps out from behind the cows and reveals herself as Jane. Jane was a character who Benson fell in love with earlier, who turned out to be an android. As such, Benson had built a trusting relationship with an enemy, and so felt deeply betrayed when he found out Jane was inhuman. However, it turns out Jane is actually a real person. I predict all the other androids really have a human counterpart outside the school. This makes relationships complicated because Benson was betrayed by all the androids, emotionally scarring him, but now he has to trust their real counterparts to survive and escape. “They’re going to be looking for you.” Jane warns Benson. This implies that the school will relentlessly pursue Benson, and Jane appears to be Benson’s only ally available to help. I predict the Society kids remaining in the school will come back into the storyline somehow, or maybe even be terminated to begin the project again. Perhaps the school is training the androids to replace the human race and take over the planet. I believe Benson will be the one who stops the school’s evil plans, no matter what they may be, since he is the main character and he made it out of Maxfield Academy alive, unlike most. I am very interested in reading the second book to see how the plot continues and how relationships that the reader thought were ended reemerge.

The last chapter brings a big surprise to the book. In the end when Benson and Becky find themselves to be the only ones who had made it thus far they seek help for the students left behind. Becky is injured and can't continue so she waits as Bensons finds help. He comes to a town where he is looking supplies. Not ever would he think that he would he run into Jane the girl he fell in love with who ended up being a robot. What could possibly be going through his head? Was Jane human was she on Benson's side? My prediction for the next book is that the robots were replicas of real humans. I think that the antagonists in the book possibly took information and features from living patients. This could explain why the robots had emotions and physical human features. As for the sequel, I am very excited to read it. In fact, I already have the next book and plan on starting it right away. This book was very intriguing and interesting I just couldn't put it down. Everything described in Variant was so visual and I hope Feed Back will be just as good.

  32. I was very shocked about the last chapter. First, Becky and Benson are the only two out of fifty who tried to except and actually succeeded. Then they find a campsite and it ended up being filled with students that had robotic clones.
I am very excited about reading the sequel to this book. I couldn't believe that I liked this book so much that I want to read the book over again. The twist and turns in this book made it so that you didn't want to put the book down. I really hope that the sequel will be just as amazing as Variant.

  33. I think that what makes Benson Fisher a good candidate for Maxfield Academy is that everyone there has similar problems. The people who they pick are people who won’t be missed. I think it also has to do with the fact that these people don’t trust easily. I think that it’s what Benson did to make things different, he trusted people. I understood the purpose of the school was to be something to where they could test there androids on human people to see how well they blended in. I think that another reason of why Benson was a good candidate for the school is that he stood out differently from the other kids. He wanted to make a difference.

  36. Becky gets hurt in the last chapter, so Benson has to find help for her. While looking for help for Becky, Benson finds Jane. Jane is an android, but as Benson learns she is really a human too. Jane cuts her arm to the bone to prove to him that she is human. It is now revealed that androids have humans connected to them. I believe Benson will still have distrust for the humans in the sequel as he will still think of them as androids. The sequel, “Feedback”, answered many of my questions and I am glad I read it.

  37. In the book Variant at the last chapter Benson and Becky ran away from the school called Maxfield Academy, Becky was running and she hurt herself In chapter 29 and page 368 it says “she wasn’t sleeping. Her breathing was heavy and uneven, and she winced frequently, balling her hands into tight, pained fists. We’d made it past the wall, past androids. We were out in the forest- we’d escape. And she might die anyway. As the light of dawn began to fill the sky, I inspected her wound more closely. There was dried blood everywhere- and some that was still wet and oozing. Her skin was as white as the snowflakes”. This explaining how she got hurt from escaping the Maxfield Academy and that is how Benson figured out that Becky it's a here not a robot and Benson almost cried because she was a human because he can see that you have bones in her body that there are real.

  38. In the last chapter of Variant, Benson tries to find help for Becky because she is injured. He runs into what he thought was a campsite but in reality was a town. In the town he can’t seem to find anyone so he decides to search a barn. There a girl was milking cows, to Benson’s surprise it was Jane! Very freaked out at first, Benson doesn’t believe that Jane is real and not an android. To prove to Benson that she is in fact human, she slices her arm open to show him the bone confirming she is real. In the second book I predict that for every android that was at Maxwell Academy, there is a human that the android was based off of. I believe Benson will have trust issues with the people in this town because he will still remember the hurt the android versions of them caused him. Even though there not the androids they still look the same, maybe just a few years older. Benson will hold back around them until he truly realizes they’re on his side and not against him. I am very excited to read the next book, and have already purchased it! I feel like the second book will tie up all the loose ends and questions I have from reading Variant.

  39. In the last chapter, a very important plot twist happens. In chapter 28, Mason hits Becky with a wrench and she falls onto a log that has strong pointed branches. When she fell, one of the branches pierced her bicep. The wound was not very wide but very, very deep, deep enough that Benson could see Becky’s bone. Benson stated on page 366, “You’re real….. I wanted you to be real.” Continuing on to chapter 29, Becky and Benson have been wandering the forest which is now covered in snow. Becky is not only as pale as the snowflakes, but she is grey. She needs help or else she will die. In hopes of saving Becky, (the girl Benson trusts and whom he just kissed) he makes his way into what he assumes is a guard's camp. Benson is surprised to find that it wasn’t a guard's camp; it was a small town. This town had, “Small farms and a few dozen buildings. Smoke was rising from four or five chimneys.” Benson went into one of the buildings which appeared to be a barn. On his way to pick up a tarp for insulation , a voice that he recognizes asks, “Who are you?” The voice turns out to be Jane but not the same Jane that Benson knew. She warns Benson that the school is going to be looking for him. The final few sentences are of Jane speaking, they say, “‘I know you,” she said, her words barely audible. Suddenly her eyes went wide. ‘I thought you died. I thought we both did.” This plot twist is very interesting. Earlier in the book Benson lost trust in Jane but now has complete trust in Becky. I predict that Benson will have to work with both Jane and Becky to defeat the schools plan. I think that the schools plan is to make super soldiers out of the robots. As we learned from Rosa the school wanted the robots to make strategies and one way to practice them is by playing paintball, which they did at the school. I think that every android, like Jane, is based on a real human. I think that Benson, Becky, Jane and rest of the human counterparts will take down the school. When they free the students and destroy the program, everyone will be allowed to go their separate ways. I am super excited to get into the second book and learn what happens in Benson Fishers adventure! Infact I have purchased Feedback!

  40. What plot twist happens at the end of the book. Big surprise I do believe it's the real Jane. So my theory is when those 15 kids disappeared. And Jane was left by herself they took her to the town where Benson found her (the real her I believe) and replaced her with and android. I'm pretty sure all 15 kids that disappeared were killed by the CRAZY LUNATIC LADY "Mrs. Vaughn" But I think the Jane android was being controlled by the real Jane hence how she remembers Benson. But I'm not sure what happened to Lily she was probably beaten to death. And how I think it will work out for the second book is Jane explains everything. And maybe my theory's true. I'll have to wait to find out, though.

  41. The plot twist that happens in the last chapter is that the smoke that the students see from the school is actually a small town. So when Benson and Becky arrive to this town they notice that the people who inhabit this town are actually the real people who the androids are trying to look like. Benson then sees that Jane is an android but also a real person. But, she is much older than the android version of Jane. The people and the androids are connected some way as well. but they don’t explain how. My prediction on how this will work in the second book is that to really kill the androids you have to kill the people that they are connected to. I’m very interested in the second book! I loved the first one! I didn’t like how they left us on a cliff hanger. But, it made me want to read the second one even more.

  42. The plot twist that happens in the last chapter is that Benson is trying to run to get help for Becky and he stumbles on a town. He finds a barn and goes in to gather some supplies where he finds Jane. But, this Jane was different than the android Jane. She had freckles and was a real human. I think that the school made the robots off of real people. I think that in the second book, Jane will help him and all of the other humans at Maxfield Academy get back to civilization and live a normal life. I am very interested in reading the sequel to this book because this book is like no book I’ve ever read before and I’m excited to see what happens to Benson and Becky.

  43. In the last chapter the plot twist was Jane was alive. I think that Benson will freak out about Jane is alive. I also think that Benson and Becky will start questioning Jane about everything that happened. Also I think that Benson would have to choose Jane or Becky because it seems like he likes both of them. I think these predictions will go in to the book because the at the end of the book it seemed like these things would happen. I'm interested in the sequel because it ended in a really interesting way. There was so much questions that wasn't answered. For example why are there androids and why is Jane still alive etc.

  45. I personally believe the turning point was in the last chapter. Benson goes looking for some help with Becky. He discovers he is in a small town. He ventured into a barn and finds Jane. But she was actually human. I personally think they are creating robots/androids out of actual people. I wish it wouldn't leave me with so many questions. I'm really excited to see what will happen to Benson and Betty in the future. I'll most definitely be checking out the next book.

In the final chapter of the book Benson was attempting to find help when he comes across a small town. He found a barn in the small town and went to it in a attempt to find something to help Becky, But he find Jane instead. He is surprised to see her and she attempts to convince him that she is in fact human. She even cuts open her arm to show him that she is human. I think that this left insight for the next book. It will raise questions about the people who run Maxfield Academy and how they are maintaining control of the school and the students. Which then will make the students like Benson more angry to try to get away and forget everything. I personally did not really enjoy the book and I will only read the sequel if it is assigned in school.

In the last chapter the plot twist happens right near the end. Benson leaves Becky to find help. After he stumbles across a barn he finds Jane in the barn with the cows and animals. This will tie into the second book if Benson tries to bring her along or if she helps Benson and Becky escape. Or Jane leaves with Benson to live her life while Maxfield Academy looks for there lost android. I am interested in reading the next book.

  48. The plot twist in Chapter 29 happens when Benson leaves Becky to get help for her. In his search for help, Benson finds a town with some gardens, a few buildings, and a barn. Benson runs into the barn where he finds Jane. This will work into the second book if the Jane in the barn is human. This would mean that there would be replicas of everyone who attended the school, possibly including Benson. Also, if the Maxfield Academy is building android replicas and the fact that Ms. Vaughn said that she was "stored in the mainframe" suggest that the androids could replace the humans as the dominant "species". I would definitely read the sequel.

In the last chapter the plot twist was very interesting. Benson and Becky are in the woods escaping the school. Becky is injured and Benson leaves her to find help. He finds a barn and inside he finds tarps and starts to looks for bandages. Benson hears a familiar voice who asks, "who are you?". He looks to find a girl milking a cow who looks just like Jane with the exception of darker freckled skin. She also looked taller and older. She says to him, "We didn't think anyone survived." "They're going to be looking for you." (pg 373) Jane recognizes him and thought that they both had died.

This will play into the next book if Jane helps Becky and Benson. There are survivors of the school. I think the next book will tell us about the future of the school if any and the survivors. I didn't like how the book ended leaving so many questions, but I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book.

  50. The plot twist that happens in the last chapter is Benson discovers Jane in the building that looks like a barn. On page 372 it says, “She didn’t look the same, but I knew her. Her fair skin was darker and freckled-and she was taller. Older. But I knew her.” I predict that Jane and Benson will end up becoming friends again and they will try to figure out what happened at Maxfield Academy. I also feel like there will be a bit of a conflict between Becky and Jane because now Benson would have to choose between the two of them. I would be interested in reading the sequel. The first one really ends on a cliff hanger. I enjoyed this book and would like to know what happens next!

  52. In the last chapter there is a huge plot twist. This plot twist is the purpose of the school, which was to train human-like robots. I think this will play into the second book by having them search for Benson. I believe the sequel will be the escape of Benson and Becky. I'm not interested in reading the sequel. This is because the intelligence level of the main character was pretty dang low.

The plot twist is that Benson finds Jane milking a cow in a barn after escaping and trying to find help for Becky. Jane says she thought that Benson and herself were dead. In the second book I think Benson, Jane and Becky will find all the people that were androids but that are real people. Just like Benson found the real Jane. I also think that the androids will still be hunting them. I am very interested in reading the next book. The ending of this book made me very angry and left me anxious to read the next one.

  54. The plot twist happens in the last chapter, it is when Benson Fisher goes to get help for Becky. He walks into the farm and he finds Jane in there. It ends right there at a cliff hanger and there's a lot of questions unaswered. Such as what will happen next, if the androids can be the replicas, where are the real people. I predict that Benson, Becky and Jane will try to find the person, or people, that are responsible to the androids. I believe that will will work into the second book. I really want to read the sequel, because the first book was really good.

  55. In the last chapter, Benson goes out to look for help for Becky. He walks to this small town, and finds Jane, in a barn. Which is where the book ends and I think that in the second book, Benson, Becky, and Jane are going to either look for the people that are in control of the androids, or they might going looking for the real people instead of replicas. I was very disappointed when the book ended. This book was very interesting and detailed. So I can't wait for the second.

A major plot twist happens in the last chapter where Benson sees Jane on a farm looking older. I think the people who run Maxfield have a series of each android. So that as they get older they just transfer to their older body. The smoke in the forest were probably more androids in the forest, in that case he still is not safe or free completely. Benson is most likely stepping into a trap, Jane could be there on purpose to slow him down and confuse him. It is why too weird and suspicious not to be a trap or something, I think there’s another obstacle that Benson can’t see. I am very interested in reading the other books to this series because I am very curious about what's going to happen to Benson and Becky.

  57. The plot twist in the last chapter was when Benson went to look for help for Becky and finds a small town and comes across Jane. He thinks she was another android but she cut her arm open to show him she was human. I think in the second book Benson will go back to grab Becky. Then bring her back to the town and see if they could help her. But then they might get trapped in the town instead. On the topic of being interested in reading the second book though. While I think the first book was well written, in my opinion it was very cliché. I'm not going out of my way to read the second book.

  59. At the end of the book Benson walks into a small town to find Jane in barn. The book ends there. I think that Jane is there to slow down Benson. I believe that he is walking into a trap. I am ready to read the sequel of this book. Jugging by the way this book went that there are more Maxfield's out there and the sequel will be just as or more Flabbergasting.

In the last chapter of the Variant, a very important plot twist occurs. Benson runs into a barn to find supplies so that he can save Becky from dying and while he is there he hears a girl's voice. This girl turns out to be Jane. Jane was the girl that Benson trusted and fell in love with at Maxfield. At the school, Benson discovered that Jane was merely an android. I think that this means that the second book will reveal that every robot from Maxfield was based off of a real person. The Jane that we know from the beginning of the book and the Jane from the last chapter have all of the same traits, except for the fact that the Jane from the very end looks slightly older. This plot twist becomes even more interesting when Jane says, "I thought you died. I thought we both did." This makes me wonder how the supposed human version of her knew Benson if she had never met him. This interest makes me a bit more interested in reading the sequel but not interested in it as a class book or an assigned reading book.

In the last chapter, he sees Jane again, Jane that was a robot at the school and now he meets her again. Benson is confused, he is questioning his trust again. Seeing Jane alive and healthy confuses Benson. I am interested in reading the sequel to the book to find out what happens and how this Jane is connected to the robot Jane.

The plot twist in the last chapter is when Benson goes to find help. He finds town. He finds Jane and its not the robot Jane its a real person. 63. The plot twist in the last chapter happens when Benson sees this small town and goes inside a barn to get some tarp. He doesn't see anyone in there at first, but when he goes inside he hears a girl's voice. The voice belongs to Jane. The plot twist happens exactly when he turns to see her and when she says that she has seen him before and thought they were dead. This could possibly play into the second book if she tells him about how she remembers him and her both being dead and how she got onto the farm. Also, they together could find where the robots are being made.
